Ophthalmoscopes are used for examining the interior of the eye. They can help to diagnose: damage to your optic nerve, retinal tear or detachment, glaucoma, macular degeneration, cytomegalovirus (CMV) retinitis, melanoma, hypertension, and many more. Riester offers two tiers of ophthalmoscopes, our economic e-scope pocket version as well as the premium traditional style instrument.

- 3.7 V LED illumination – Riester’s LED bulbs offer a lifetime of 50,000 hours
- Dioptre display – Viewing window showing which corrective lens is currently selected out of the 18 offered on the e-scope (+/- 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 10, 15, 20 dioptres)
- Dioptre adjustment wheel – This is the wheel to allow the clinician to scroll through the lenses
- Aperture wheel – Easy-to-use aperture wheel with six different apertures (fixation star, large circle, small circle, red free filter, blue filter, semi circle)
- Spectacle protection – Rubber stopped to protect clinician’s eyewear while utilizing the device
- Dust-protected casing – The ophthalmoscope casing is fully enclosed ensuring dust particles cannot get in an obstruct the viewing lens
- On/Off switch
- Battery compartment and ABS synthetic material casing – Runs on AA alkaline batteries (easy to replace and cost effective). Lightweight and comfortable to carry in a pocket during rounds.

- Dust-protected casing – The ophthalmoscope casing is fully enclosed ensuring dust particles cannot get in an obstruct the viewing lens
- Dioptre display – Viewing window showing which corrective lens is currently selected out of the 29 offered on the L2 ophthalmoscope (Plus 1-10, 12, 15, 20, 40 Minus 1-10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35) or the 89 offered on the L3 ophthalmoscope (Plus 1-45 in single steps, Minus 1-44 in single steps)
- Aperture wheel adjustment wheel – Includes filter wheel engageable for all apertures with symbol display for the following:
- Filter wheel – Both the L2 and L3 ophthalmoscope include 3 filters: red-free filter, blue filter and polarization filter
- Bayonet fitting to quickly switch instrument heads – All of our heads work with all of our handles allowing end users the ability to easily switch between heads and a bayonet fitting knowing they’re locked in place
- On/Off switch – On/off collar allows for brightening or dimming of illumination to fit the clinician’s needs
- Battery compartment, black chrome-plated metal handles – Instruments can run on rechargeable lithium-ion batteries or alkaline batteries (C cell).
