Frequently Asked Questions

  1. I am trying to use my ri-pen® for the first time and it won’t turn on, how do I fix this? To reduce accidental powering on of the device in shipment, Riester places a small white sticker over the battery where it connects with the bulb inside the device. Remove the silver ‘cap’ where the bulb is by unscrewing it and remove the sticker. The device should power on when you click the on/off button now.
  2. How do I replace the bulb or battery in my ri-pen®? To replace the battery in your ri-pen®, please make sure the device is powered off. Remove the silver ‘cap’ where the bulb is by unscrewing it and remove the batteries. Replace the batteries and screw the silver cap back on.
  3. How do I clean my equipment? In order to avoid possible cross-contamination, the ri-pen must be cleaned and disinfected regularly. The diagnostic penlight can be cleaned on the outside using a damp cloth (if necessary, moistened with alcohol) until they are visually clean. Wipe with disinfectant (e.g. disinfectant Bacillol AF from Bode Chemie GmbH (time 30s)) according to the instructions of use of the respective manufacturer of disinfectant. Only disinfectants with proven effectiveness according to national guidelines should be used. After disinfecting, wipe the diagnostic penlight with a damp cloth to remove potential residue. Please make sure that the cloth is moistened but not wet, so no moisture penetrates the openings of the ri-pen.
  4. What is the warranty of my equipment? Riester ri-pen® has a warranty of 2 years
